Coffee Meringues Recipe
Head over to the kitchen with these ingredients.
What You’ll Need
- Four large egg whites. You can save the yolks for later use
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup sugar
- 4 tbsps. Instant coffee granules
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
How to Prepare?
Start off by preheating the oven to 250 degree Fahrenheit. Once it is heated, line 2 cookie sheets with a parchment paper and set them aside.
Pour the egg whites in a large mixing bowl and add salt to it. Now using an electric beater with a whisk attachment, beat the egg whites on high speed for roughly 5 minutes.
Now add sugar a tbsp. at a time while you continue the beating on medium-high speed until the meringue become glossy and it holds stiff peaks. Do this for about 10 minutes.
Using a spatula, fold the coffee granules and vanilla until the granules are mixed.
Take a pastry bag with a large piping tip and roll down the top a few times. You can also use Ziploc bag and fold it 2 to 3 times to give a cuff on the outside of it.
With the spatula, transfer meringue from mixing bowl into the pastry bag and close it to force the meringue towards the bottom.
Finally, place it in the preheated oven and bake for 2 hours. Turn the oven off and leave the door partially open. Also, leave the meringues in the over for another hour after baking.
Now remove the meringues from the oven, peel the paper, return them to the oven for another 30 minutes for drying, cool completely and enjoy them.
